Central Alabama Wood Products is a large capacity hardwood sawmill operation with more than 40 full-time employees. Operations are located on a 65-acre site in the Nixburg community of Coosa County, AL, and include both scragg and grade lumber sawmills. The scragg mill produces cants, crossties, switchties and cut stock for pallet fabrication. The grade mill produces high-end lumber for furniture and flooring applications. By-products include: clean chips for paper and pulp manufacturers; and sawdust and bark for boiler fuel. LLB Timber Company, Inc. LLB Timber Company is a privately-held corporation by the shareholders of IndusTREE Timber. The company consists of two fully mechanized logging crews with equipment spreads for specialized harvest operations. One crew is dedicated to large tract harvesting operations and has a capacity of 2,000 tons per week. The equipment spread consists of a10-man crew and includes one feller buncher, two skidders, one knuckle boom loader and four logging trucks. A Professional Logger Manager Certified oversees all harvest operations. The second crew is a six-man crew that is dedicated to plantation pine thinning and smaller clear-cut operations. The equipment spread includes one feller buncher, one skidder, one knuckle boom loader and two logging trucks. Capacity for this crew is 1,000 tons per week. All harvest operations are planned in advance with landowners to ensure quality expectations are met, particularly those involving road prep and repair. Our company-owned logging crews are certified through the Professional Logger Manager program, and stay current on Best Management Practices and Erosion Control. Guidelines established through the Sustainable Forestry Initiative are supported and applied on a tract-by-tract basis.
